On 19 September 2017, a statutory reform called a ‘safe harbour’ defence was introduced for company directors against liability for insolvent trading. During this CPD Daniel will discuss: The reforms; How they facilitate achieving a workout/restructure; Other issues facing directors during a workout; What effect the reforms may have on the directors’ decision on whether or not to appoint an administrator; and The implications for lawyers advising directors on a workout and thereafter. The Geelong Law Association welcomes all new and returning members to the first social event of the year to be held on the 18 April 2019. This will be the last day of work before the long weekend and what better way to finish off the week then with a few after work drinks with colleagues in a relaxed setting. The GLA Committee are pleased to announce this year’s annual dinner will be held at the delightful Barwon Edge Boathouse. Pat has a very broad knowledge in this area having come to the Bar in 2010 and prior to this Pat worked as a solicitor in a boutique family law firm. As part of her practice Pat has participated in mediation and conciliation and has established a reputation for assisting clients to reach agreement in highly conflictual circumstances and for sound strategic advice. Pat has experience in family law advocacy having appeared in property & children’s matters, recovery proceedings, relocation proceedings, divorce proceedings, appeals and is a nationally accredited mediator. She has had an ongoing association with Deakin University for a number of years and currently consults there as a law tutor and lecturer. She has been a regular volunteer at the Barwon Community Legal Centre.
