The GLA Committee are pleased to announce this year’s annual dinner will be held at the delightful Barwon Edge Boathouse. October is Regional and Suburban Young Lawyers (RSYL) Month and the Geelong contingent is celebrating with a good old fashioned wine tour! The GLA has kindly agreed to supply us with a shuttle bus for the day so you can leave the car at home. The Geelong Law Association is holding a Yoga and Meditation session to promote wellbeing in the profession. More and more organisations are recognising that supporting the whole person is the key to an engaged and resilient workforce or group. Yoga and mindfulness can improve: concentration, confidence and focus emotional and physical wellness mental resilience and stress management ability to manage work relationships. They can be particularly helpful for people working in emergency response, or other stressful situations.

The Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 2002 is a technical regime which requires strict compliance to enforce contractors’ rights to payment and strict timeframes for principals’ to protect their own interests in relation to payments. It is an interim payment regime that sits outside the contract and applies to all commercial construction projects and some domestic construction, depending on the nature of the owner.
